Voice of America
Voice of America (VOA) is news, special reports, culture and current events broadcasts by the US government for people around the world. The broadcasts are in 43 languages and are mainly for people that are outside of the U.S.
The website is large. It has many, many, very interesting and important things to read, watch and listen to. You can listen to the streaming broadcast online. Broadcasts in English are read clearly, have an intermediate vocabulary, with emphasis on pronunciation. The stories are read at a slightly slower rate than a typical American newscast. These features help non-native English speakers and learners throughout the world to have extensive access to the English language, international news, American culture, and in depth information on current events.
A 1976 law signed by President Gerald Ford requires VOA to “serve as a consistently reliable and authoritative source of news.” The VOA Charter states: “VOA news will be accurate, objective and comprehensive.” VOA radio and television broadcasts are by satellite, cable and on FM, AM, and shortwave radio. – VOA wiki
